Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council are recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative to work in the local borough. This role will focus on delivering a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance services based on local council priorities. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who enjoys working with people and providing excellent services to enhance local environments. Our aim is to make Basingstoke a better place to live and work. You will play a key part in providing these services, ensuring work targets are achieved efficiently and effectively.
Ideally, we are looking for applicants that have experience working in a similar field but also show a willingness to learn new skills to become experienced in operational maintenance. Applicants must be reliable and demonstrate the core qualities required to work in a frontline service role. You will need to be highly motivated, demonstrate a good aptitude for tasks undertaken, pay attention to detail, be organised, have good communication skills, and be able to take direction while having a proactive and flexible approach to work.
Key Requirements
- Demonstrate good communication and customer care skills.
- Ability to understand work information whether given verbally or in writing.
- Ability to work safely within guidance and legislation.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Be physically fit and capable of carrying out the often demanding work tasks.
- A full clean driving licence is essential.
Based at the Brighton Hill Depot and adapt to working from other council premises when required.
