Building Surveyor
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council holds an established property investment and operational portfolio principally comprising industrial, office and retail assets, and with some other miscellaneous assets, valued at c. Β£300m producing an annual rental income more than Β£19m. Rental income is a major contributor to the financial sustainability of the Council and the income received significantly exceeds that generated through the collection of Council Tax. Recognising the important role Property and Assets has within the council new posts have been created and we looking to recruit two more building surveyors.
Required
The post holder will form part of a small team responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Operational and Investment portfolio, with advice from external consultants, when required. Main duties will be:
- day to day response repairs
- compliance works
- inspection of empty properties
- developing and managing small programmes of work, both capital and revenue
- ensuring works to empty properties are carried out as quickly as possible to maximise rental income
- undertake out of hours emergency duties including weekends
All in accordance with the organisation's constitution. Developing good relationships with contractors, tenants, internal departments, and colleagues within Property is a must.
The role will be particularly attractive to a surveyor working towards RICS or CIOB qualification.
