The predicted salary is between 38140 - 46616 Β£ per year.
This post will be part of the Planning Enforcement team who work within the Planning Service.
It will focus on development monitoring including checking compliance of planning conditions attached to major and complex development proposals.
The successful candidate will be a person capable of working, both alone and within a small team, be highly organised have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The service has seen significant increases in the number of major planning applications being managed by the Planning Service, a number of which are due to begin construction work imminently and over prolonged periods of time.
Each of these consents will have a raft of planning conditions attached to them.
This function is essential to monitor compliance with planning conditions, allow the early identification of non-compliance and ensure that serious breaches of planning control for the more complex and high-profile developments are dealt with swiftly and do not go unaddressed.
Whilst this role is based within the Enforcement Team there will be close working relationships with colleagues in Development Management and Policy teams to monitor the commencement and completions of new development as part of the Annual Monitoring Reports that are required to be published.
The post offers progression and development opportunities across the planning service.
The pay band and level of training that is undertaken will be dependent on the successful candidate's experience and education level.
The successful candidate must be committed to securing qualifications and to acquire the necessary technical knowledge to undertake the duties of this post.
You will be required to undertake site visits and a Full Driving License and the use of a private car is essential.

- IT experience, including the use of MSWord, MSExcel, MSPower Point and project management software
- Experience of preparing written and verbal responses to correspondence of a technical nature
- Ability to interpret plans of buildings, land and deal with enquiries of a technical nature, both written and verbal.
Ability to read and understand documentation and focus on key issues.
- High level of organisational and analytical skills including the ability to maintain files and update and amend databases, generate reports and analyse information and assimilate into different formats.
- Good inter-personal skills and the ability to give advice in an assured manner and respond to a range of enquiries from internal and external customers.
- Excellent team worker, but can also work independently.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage own case load and prioritise in the office and on site.
- The ability to travel throughout the Borough to visit sites and to access uneven terrain.
- Ability to occasionally work unsociable hours as required.
- You will require an undergraduate degree in Town Planning, Architecture, Geography or similar related discipline; or relevant work experience in regulatory control or law enforcement.
