As a Research Fellow, you will be an integral member of the Active Together team, supporting the delivery of a large and complex cancer rehabilitation programme at the AWRC and sites across Yorkshire. Working closely with the project manager, wider team, and fellow researchers, you will be at the heart of delivering a pioneering multidisciplinary cancer rehabilitation service, contributing to its development, evaluation, and rollout across the county.

We are looking for a PhD qualified researcher in a relevant field with publication and conference experience to lead the data-related aspects of our cancer rehabilitation service. You will oversee data collection and evaluation across multiple sites, monitor performance, report progress, and identify risks or issues. Responsibilities include secure data collection, database management of confidential medical data, data analysis, and visualization. You will share results with the funder, Yorkshire Cancer Research, and all stakeholders involved in service delivery. Communicating your findings locally and internationally will be a key part of your role. You will also contribute to developing, evaluating, and implementing this groundbreaking cancer rehabilitation service across Yorkshire.

You will collaborate with NHS Trusts and partners to establish data collection and transfer processes, advising on data protection and sharing agreements. Additionally, you will review and synthesize current research on exercise oncology and behaviour change strategies, making recommendations for data-driven service improvements. You may contribute to other research projects at the university and propose your own related research initiatives.

We seek candidates with diverse experience, particularly in supporting the delivery and evaluation of complex public health services. Strong skills in data collection, evaluation of complex datasets, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder engagement, and customer service are essential. Experience with NHS services, especially cancer services, would be advantageous.
