This is an exciting opportunity for a software developer to join a leading-edge software team of dynamic developers.

Basemap are a company at the forefront of our market, producing digital mapping and transport solutions.

The successful candidate will join an agile team collaborating on B2B and B2C applications.

We work iteratively to focus on the performance of the team and delivery of product.

To this end there is support and mentoring from the lead developer, processes in place for review and code quality, and opportunity to influence change in processes.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

You will have a proven interest and ability in developing software systems where your responsibilities will include developing software, refactoring code, designing systems and working on solutions.

Day to day activities will involve

  • Building and maintaining features in our WPF desktop application, following the MVVM pattern
  • Extending our interactive mapping and data visualisation features using a third-party mapping SDK
  • Writing algorithms and working alongside our existing developers to design and implement new analysis features
  • Authoring unit tests
  • Collaborating in a self organising Scrum team including participating in the daily standup, planning and retrospective meetings
  • C#. NET, WPF and the MVVM pattern
  • Entity Framework, SQL Server
  • Dependency injection (Autofac or similar)
  • Unit testing (NUnit, Moq)
  • GIT
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an agile team
  • A strong commitment to staying up to date on the latest technologies
  • Interest in the transport and mapping sector
  • Experience working with GIS frameworks and/or libraries (Think Geo, Esri, Map Info, GDAL)
  • GIS and mapping concepts such as WMS, contour generation and spatial analysis
  • Dapper, Auto Mapper, Fluent Assertions
  • Maintaining a long-lived legacy desktop codebase alongside modern testing practices
  • Azure Dev Ops Pipelines and CI/CD

We are looking for someone with 3+ years’ experience; however, would consider someone with less experience based on their portfolio.

You will get the opportunity to work for an outstanding company who continue to deliver solutions at the highest grade.

You can expect a generous salary package, including a company pension scheme and 25 days holiday increasing to 28 days after 3 years.

We offer flexible working hours and 2 days per week working remotely.
