We are working with an established, cash-rich, privately owned global manufacturing business based in the High Peak. Following a recent restructure, the company is now looking to appoint an experienced Senior Credit Controller to take ownership of the Credit Control and Sales Ledger function across both UK and international clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable and growing organisation where you will play a key role in managing complex customer accounts, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring timely cash collection across multiple global regions.
The successful candidate will be confident, assertive yet diplomatic, highly organised and possess a strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail. The role requires someone comfortable building relationships with customers and proactively chasing outstanding debt via telephone and written communication.
The Role
Working closely with the wider finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely distribution of sales invoices while maintaining strong relationships with customers to support prompt payment. You will also assess customer creditworthiness and liaise internally to ensure the smooth release and shipment of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation and distribution of sales invoices and credit notes
- Managing cash collection across multiple regions including the UK, US, SEA, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand
- Handling and resolving sales invoice queries
- Monitoring customer credit limits and credit positions
- Reviewing and assessing customer creditworthiness
- Managing credit insurance submissions and monitoring policies
- Processing letters of credit when required
- Approving the release of goods based on credit approval
- Managing consignment stock processes and associated invoicing
- Supporting year-end audit requirements
- Building strong internal relationships with sales, logistics and finance teams
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a Credit Control or Senior Credit Control role
- Experience dealing with international customers or multiple regions would be advantageous
- Strong communication skills with confidence in telephone-based collections
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- A self-motivated team player with a proactive approach
