An established, community-focused charity is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day financial operations. This is a standalone role based onsite in Derby offering the opportunity to play a key part in supporting the organisation’s continued impact within the local community. This position would suit a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working in a varied role, with responsibility for both transactional and management accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of day-to-day finance operations
  • Managing purchase and sales ledger, invoicing and credit control
  • Processing and overseeing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and managing bank reconciliations
  • Producing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and reporting
  • Preparing budgets and supporting forecasting activities
  • Monitoring cash flow and supporting financial planning
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
  • Supporting audit processes and liaising with external accountants/auditors
  • Producing financial reports to support senior leadership decision-making

About You

  • AAT Level 3 (or above), or part/fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. Sage) and payroll software
  • Advanced Excel skills and confident using financial systems
  • Experience producing management accounts and overseeing transactional finance
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently in a standalone finance role

Experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
