Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment. Base71 is part of the national OnSide network, which empowers young people across the UK through world-class youth work and inclusive opportunities. Do you have a passion for boxing or martial arts and want to inspire the next generation? We’re looking for Sessional Youth Workers – Boxing & Martial Arts to join the sports team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026. You’ll deliver fun, safe, and challenging sessions in our brand-new boxing suite and martial arts space – helping young people build fitness, confidence, and resilience. From teaching boxing basics to leading structured training sessions, you’ll create opportunities for young people to develop skills while staying active and motivated.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver safe, high-quality boxing and martial arts sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
- Run a programme that is exciting, developmental, and inclusive.
- Carry out daily safety checks and maintain equipment to a high standard.
- Encourage participation from all young people, including those new to the sport.
- Build positive relationships and motivate young people to reach their potential.
What you’ll bring:
- Level 2 Coaching qualification in Boxing or Martial Arts (essential).
- Experience delivering boxing and/or martial arts sessions with young people.
- Experience conducting equipment safety checks.
- Ability to engage and motivate young people from all backgrounds, including SEND.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, inclusion, and health & safety (training provided).
