About Our Titchfield Site
Our Titchfield facility is the largest of Eaton's Fuel and Motion Control Systems (FMC) locations in the UK, forming part of a three-site network alongside South Molton in North Devon and Bedhampton in Hampshire. With around 500 employees, Titchfield is home to a broad community of Commercial Specialists, Engineers and Programme Managers who support both current and legacy programmes across our UK FMC operations. The site has been part of Eaton since 2005, but its heritage stretches back further, originally serving the RAF during World War II as a manufacturing centre for barrage balloons. Today, Titchfield plays a critical role in the aerospace industry, focusing on the design, manufacture and aftermarket support of essential fuel system components for major aircraft manufacturers including Boeing and Airbus.
What You’ll Do
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Product and Process Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with UK CAA and EASA requirements. This role is critical in ensuring that our aerospace products and manufacturing processes meet the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Acts as the focal point for safety management issues related to Product and Process
- Controls the SMS implementation plan on behalf of the plants Accountable Manager
- Facilitates hazard identification and risk analysis and management via the Safety Committee Meetings
- Oversee daily operations of the Inspection team, ensuring effective cross-training, timely scheduling of workflow, and optimal allocation of available resources
- Oversees continual improvement of the SMS
- Disseminates at Management Reviews information on Safety Performance related to Product and Processes
- Maintenance of safety documentation
- Participates in the development, selection and deployment of SMS Training
- Coordinates and communicates, on behalf of the Accountable Manager, with the relevant National Aviation Authority (NAA)
- Monitors safety concerns reported within the aviation community which have the potential to affect the organisation or its products or services
Product and Process Safety Oversight
- Lead safety risk assessments for new and existing aerospace products and processes
- Ensure safety considerations are embedded in design, development, testing, and production phases
- Monitor and analyse safety performance indicators and trends
Compliance and Assurance
- Ensure compliance with applicable aviation safety regulations, standards, and best practices
- Liaise with regulatory bodies including the CAA, EASA, and other relevant authorities
- Prepare and submit safety cases, hazard logs, and risk assessments as required
Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Actively participate in product and process related safety incidents and non-conformance investigations
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation
Training and Culture
- Promote a strong safety culture across the organisation
- Deliver SMS and safety training to staff and stakeholders
- Facilitate safety communication and engagement across departments
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Safety Management or related field.
Skills
- Proven experience in safety management within the aerospace or aviation sector.
- In-depth knowledge of CAA / EASA SMS requirements and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experienced people manager with a proven record of success.
- Experience with safety tools such as hazard logs, safety cases, and risk matrices.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with international aviation safety standards (e.g., ICAO Annex 19, CAA Part and CAA Part 145)
- Certification in safety auditing or risk management
- Knowledge of inspection methods across multiple instruments
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
