Overview
The post holder will aid the Head in responsibility for the provision of MR and U/S Physics services to the Trust and the management of the associated staff. They will aid in the provision of scientific and technical support to all MRI and U/S systems within the Trust (St Bartholomew Hospital, Royal London Hospital, Whipps Cross, Newham University Hospital and Mile End CDC) and any additional systems under external contract. The postholder will support MRI and U/S research in the Trust and undertake collaborative work with associated academic institutions when required. In collaboration with consultant medical practitioners and leading academics, the post holder will undertake the implementation of innovative leading-edge clinical MR methods and U/S diagnostic techniques. The postholder will initiate and provide high quality teaching and training of junior clinical scientists within the national training programs and support the training of Trust staff in the safe use of MRI systems. The postholder will act as a MR Safety Expert (MRSE) to the Trust, and will be the named MRSE for particular trust sites.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated senior Clinical Scientist to become Deputy Head of our Magnetic Resonance and Ultrasound Physics Team at Barts Health. We are looking for a Scientist working as an MRSE, with previous experience in U/S and interest in developing both MRI and U/S governance. The MRI and US team
The MRI and US team is a friendly and dedicated group that engages with Imaging throughout the organisation to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors. The team is involved with all aspects of MRI equipment life cycle and supporting U/S scanners (approximately 400 items). There is a strong commitment to innovation, research and development with existing links to Queen Mary University, King’s College Hospital and other Academic Trusts in the London Region.
Role purpose
The purpose of the post is to aid the Head in the leadership of the Magnetic Resonance (MR) and Ultrasound (U/S) Physics team.
