The position provides a mix of supervised and independent practice to prepare the fellows for independent consultant practice with a specialist interest in knee surgery. Fellows are integral members of the team involved in day-to-day care of patients in clinics, theatre and on the wards.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all consultants in the department.
  • Educational supervision will be provided by Mr Jaison Patel and Mr Joshua Lee, with the whole team assisting in mentoring.
  • Participate in clinical care across the network (including clinics, theatre and in-patient wards) and contribute to a collaborative teaching and learning environment.
  • Engage in research opportunities within the orthopaedic academic unit and actively participate in clinical trials.
  • Complete an audit or quality improvement project during the fellowship and aim to publish a paper in a peer-reviewed journal.

This CCT arthroplasty fellowship position is for 8 months and spans multiple sites (The Royal London Hospital, Bart’s Health Orthopaedic Centre and Whipps Cross Hospital). It offers exposure to knee arthroplasty (total and partial), knee preservation (cartilage, meniscus, osteotomy and ligament) and complex revision surgery, including peri-prosthetic fracture management, multi-stage revision and massive endo-prosthetic replacement.

Qualifications

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Post-CCT or within 3 months of obtaining CCT.
