About the role
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to manage patient referrals along the MSK pathway, overseeing and performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations and interventional procedures within this sub speciality. This includes joint injections, aspirations and other soft tissue interventions. You must also demonstrate the four pillars of advanced practice (clinical, education, leadership and research) and core capabilities in MSK ultrasound. The post is planned to support clinical effectiveness with 80% Direct Clinical Contact time and 20% Supporting Professional Activities.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of MSK ultrasound training.
- Designing training, upskilling and preceptorship programmes and mentoring core trainers/supervisors.
- Developing and regularly reviewing departmental and Trust wide protocols and procedures.
- Undertaking and leading on audits of their own and others\’ clinical practice in addition to service evaluation to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care.
- Acting as an independent practitioner and expert advisor within the Imaging service for MSK ultrasound, contributing to service development, quality improvement and research initiatives.
- Supporting the strategic development and collaborative integration of MSK ultrasound across Barts Health and the North-East London (NEL) Imaging Network by representing the service at hospital, Trust and NEL wide meetings.
