Overview
Whipps Cross University Hospital is looking to recruit a Maternity Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 to work in the Delivery Suite. This post is open to experienced Maternity Healthcare Support Workers or those new to care. Those new to care will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.
We are looking for compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting. The role involves undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, such as routine maternal observations and assisting with personal care and mobility, while supporting patients and newborn nutritional and hydration needs. Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of our patients.
An excellent communicator with experience of working in a team is preferred to ensure patient comfort, wellbeing and safety. The post may require shift work including nights and weekends within a busy clinical environment.
Main duties
- The post holder will be an integral part of the midwifery team, actively meeting the needs of patients and the service under direct supervision of the registered nurse.
- Continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality.
- This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.
