Role Overview
As a senior band 6 nurse you will support the Ward Manager in delivering consistently high standards of care to meet the needs of patients and the Trust objectives. You will model the Barts Health values and key behaviours to all members of the team and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Care for and manage deteriorating and acutely ill patients, escalating concerns to the appropriate medical and outreach teams.
- Coordinate and supervise ward staff activity, promoting multi‑disciplinary working and fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Assume responsibility for effective ward operation in the Ward Manager’s absence, including audit and budgetary roles.
- Maintain a clean, safe ward environment, ensuring all staff follow Trust infection control policy, dress code and other Trust policies and protocols.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Registered Nurse meeting all NMC Code of Professional Conduct standards.
- Band 6 experience with demonstrated leadership, management and facilitation skills.
- Competent practitioner capable of caring for, and managing the deteriorating and acutely ill patient.
- Excellent organisational, communication and people skills.
