Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly autonomous and experienced Sonographer, practising at the top of their licence and evidencing the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice, to join our diverse team as a General Specialist Practitioner Sonographer. The successful candidate will be based at the Royal London Hospital with cross‑site rotation to St Bartholomew\’s, Mile End Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre and Early Diagnostic Centre, and will participate in a 7‑day service with compressed hours and weekend working.
Working Patterns
The role is 80 % Direct Clinical Contact (DCC) and 20 % Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). Hours are compressed over four weekdays with some weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex ultrasound scans for patients referred across elective, urgent and emergency pathways (Fast Response, SDEC, AAU).
- Improve patient outcomes by reducing waiting times to meet National targets, DM01 and Faster Diagnostic Service (FDS) standards.
- Lead quality‑improvement, audit and research projects.
- Provide supervision and training to junior sonographers, supporting their upskilling.
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to clinical leadership.

Qualifications and Experience
- Statutory registration with a UK regulatory body.
- CASE‑accredited postgraduate (Level 7) award in ultrasound.
- Evidence of the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice.
- Core capabilities and specialty‑specific clinical competencies.
- Experience scanning complex referrals and managing multidisciplinary pathways.

£5,000 RRP per year, subject to approval.
