It is a fantastic opportunity for current 8a or experienced band 7 Cardiac Physiologist to further their career at St Barts Health NHS Trust. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Echo Educator (18 hours per week) to join our cardiac imaging team and lead the development of echocardiography training for our critical care. This exciting role offers the opportunity to shape the future of cardiac ultrasound education by delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring junior staff, and supporting the implementation of structured training programmes within critical care.

Responsibilities

  • Function independently as an expert physiologist in echocardiography including point of care imaging.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, mentoring junior staff, and support structured training programmes within critical care.
  • Engage in clinical activities for inpatient referrals and contribute on weekend rotational inpatient echo cover.
  • Work with the service leads for echo, cardiac rhythm management and non-invasive cardiology.
  • Maintain clinical skills, including possible one day a week at the Barts Heart Centre if desired.
  • Lead the development of echocardiography training for critical care, involving teaching and training clinicians, registrars, and nurses to perform echocardiography in the critical care unit at Barts Heart Centre.

Qualifications

  • BSE-accredited (or equivalent).
  • Strong clinical background in echocardiography and a commitment to professional development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in simple and advanced Echo imaging and all types of non-invasive cardiac physiology.
  • BSc Clinical Physiology degree (or international equivalent) is required; applicants without this will not be short-listed.

  • The Part time (18 hours) Deputy Principal Cardiac Physiologist Practice Educator for 12 months will work with the Principal Cardiac Physiologists providing training and education for Critical care.
