About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work in our forward‑thinking and innovative team delivering client‑centred and occupation‑centred care.
Based in our friendly team of 3 Physiotherapy and 5 Occupational Therapy staff, you will work alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Paediatricians, and Community Nurses at Mile End Hospital. We follow an integrated model of delivering therapy services to children and young people.
In this role you will see children with a wide range of developmental difficulties (Physical, Learning and ASD) at homes and in mainstream and special schools, and you will also take part in delivering Parent Workshops and trainings.
Clinical supervision, in‑service training, quality improvement projects, and CPD opportunities will be offered to progress your skill development as a therapist.
Responsibilities
• Deliver occupational therapy services to children and young people up to the age of 19 in Tower Hamlets, including clinics, mainstream and special schools, nursery settings, children and family centres, and homes.
• Complete visits across a variety of settings, such as homes, schools and children’s centres.
• Provide specialist-level care for individual referrals and work with partner organisations to enable other professionals and parents to support families at a targeted level.
• Support the capacity building of other professionals and parents to aid children and young people with developmental difficulties.
Qualifications and Experience
The post holder will initially work as a band 6 Children’s Occupational Therapist while working to achieve band 7 competencies. Main competency areas include team leadership, clinical expertise, and education. Training and support will be available to help the post holder evidence the required competencies. Once all competencies are achieved, the post holder will move into a band 7 role.
