We are seeking a dedicated Technician / MOT Tester to join our team at Barton Townley Willington in Co. Durham, GB. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and compliance of vehicles serviced at our dealership, reflecting our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests on vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Inspect vehicle components such as brakes, lights, suspension, and exhaust systems.
- Document test results accurately and communicate findings to customers.
- Carry out full and accurate vehicle check sheets.
- Assist with general vehicle inspections and repairs as needed.
- Work without supervision.
- Uphold safety standards and adhere to legal requirements during testing procedures.
- Support the team in maintaining high standards of vehicle condition and customer service.
Proven experience as an MOT Tester or similar role within an automotive dealership is required, along with strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems, fault finding on mechanical or electrical faults, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and the ability to lift heavy objects safely. Relevant certifications for MOT testing and vehicle maintenance are essential, as well as excellent attention to detail and communication skills. A commitment to safety standards and customer satisfaction is crucial.
Your salary will be subject to age, experience, and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of general servicing and repairs, deliver high-quality customer service, demonstrate good attention to detail, and possess a proactive/enthusiastic approach. Skills required include motivation for returning hours sold effectively, good timekeeping, dealing with customers when required, documentation skills, verbal communication, and customer focus.
A full UK driving licence is required. The successful applicant will be required to work 5 days a week, with the possibility of overtime after work or Saturday when busy. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Location is Barton Townley Willington, Burnington Drive, Willington, Crook, Co. Durham, DL15 0HY.
