ABOUT THE TRUST Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi‑academy Trust established in 2017. It comprises three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, The Charles Dickens School, and Barton Manor Free School. All are rated 'Good' by Ofsted and offer outstanding features.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co‑educational school with high academic standards and a caring and supportive ethos. Ofsted rated the school 'good' and it is an Accredited Advanced Thinking School and the lead school of BCAT. BCGS is working toward re‑accreditation with the University of Exeter for 2026. Students excel at GCSE, A‑Level, and BTEC, and in 2025 forty‑five percent of Year 13 graduates entered Russell Group universities. The school offers extensive professional development and wellbeing programmes, including reduced gym membership, event afternoons, and rewards through BCAT and Kent Rewards.

THE ROLE The History department has three highly skilled teachers and delivers an extensive enrichment programme across KS3‑5. History is a popular GCSE option with three or four groups in Years 9‑11, and it continues at A‑Level alongside Politics. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, qualified teacher of History and Politics able to teach across KS3‑KS5. Passion for delivering high‑quality teaching and a love for the subject are essential. The role is suitable for employees entering the profession; the school offers an excellent support programme for Early Career Teachers (ECTs). RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach History (and optionally Politics) across Key Stages 3‑5.
  • Contribute to the department’s enrichment programme.
  • Support professional development and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Potentially act as Head of Year if identified.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified teacher of History and Politics.
  • Ability to teach History to KS5; offering a second subject (e.g., Politics) is desirable.
  • Experience in KS3‑KS5 preferred but ECTs are welcomed.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, with an Enhanced Disclosure application via the Disclosure & Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for Children.
