Because of expanding client networks and areas of operation throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as wide ranging services required both internally and externally, we are looking to recruit a full-time ecological consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will be based at one of the offices (hybrid working is possible), function as a member of the consultancy team, manage their own clients and projects, and also provide internal consultancy advice and services.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver an ecological consultancy service providing written and verbal advice
- Deliver Phase 1 Habitat Surveys
- Survey and provide mitigation schemes for a wide variety of protected species
- Provide a well-rounded knowledge of biodiversity net gain services and changing legislation
Requirements:
- Previous experience delivering a consultancy service within a commercial environment
- The ability to produce technical reports to a high standard and degree of professionalism
- Experience working with planners, architects, engineers and contractors
- The ability to work within a team of professionals providing holistic tree and landscape advice
- The ability to work closely and communicate with other professionals internally and externally
- Commercial awareness and a business acumen to generate new business, develop existing clients & networks, and manage commercial clients and projects from start to finish
- The ability to meet and exceed financial targets
- A thorough working knowledge of the planning system, associated legislation and policy
- A working knowledge of current UK and European wildlife legislation and best practice, a Natural England survey license (ideally for bats or badgers) and experience of applying for European Protected Species mitigation licenses
- Sound knowledge of British flora and fauna with strong field ID skills
- An understanding of health and safety legislation and application in the working environment
- A relevant degree or master’s qualification - ecological/environmental
- Supplementary professional membership(s) and vocational training certification
- Excellent IT skills and attention to detail (essential)
- Experience with AutoCAD (desirable)
- Applicants must have a full driving licence.
