Bartlett are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware professional to join their Financial Institutions Insurance division. The Financial Institutions Insurance division is responsible for arranging insurance covering professional errors and omissions and the personal liability of senior management for companies operating in the Financial Services sector (i.e. Professional Indemnity, Directors’ & Officers’, Crime and Cyber insurance).

You will have direct responsibility for client discovery and documentation to aid our technical value proposition, with a core focus on providing knowledge transfer and training to colleagues in these areas. This role could be based from either Leeds or London.

Core roles and responsibilities
  • Being an FI sector technical expert within the division
  • Client discovery/research - conducting detailed client discovery and fact-finding (working alongside colleagues who manage client relationships) to understand business models, exposures, and risk profiles
  • Client documentation - producing bespoke written reports translating complex financial instruments, trading strategies, and fund structures into clear risk profiles to create compelling narratives for underwriters
  • Team and client training and guidance notes on all of the above areas (core focus on mentoring, coaching and empowering team members)
  • Risk exposure analysis and horizon watching within the financial institutions sector
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with team members, clients and counterparties
What you’ll develop

Person specification
  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related discipline (or demonstrably equivalent professional experience; Masters advantageous)
  • 1–2 years’ experience within financial services, such as banking, asset management, private equity or consulting, with exposure to complex financial activities
  • Strong working understanding of how financial institutions operate, including business models, governance and risk considerations
  • Practical understanding of financial instruments, fund structures or investment strategies, with the ability to explain these clearly in writing
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a naturally inquisitive approach to understanding risk and complexity
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, structured narrative
  • Comfortable taking ownership of workstreams and contributing beyond core responsibilities in support of team and business objectives
  • Experience producing high-quality analytical reports, papers or presentations for internal or external audiences
  • Exposure to risk management, compliance, legal or control functions within financial services
  • Awareness of the insurance market or financial institutions risk transfer (full technical insurance training will be provided)
