Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Civils Estimator role based in Sturminster Newton. The Civils Estimator will review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Quantity take-offs
- Sourcing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Building detailed cost schedules
- Preparing tender submissions
- Supporting bid presentations
- Working closely with engineers, project managers, and commercial staff to refine scopes and budgets
- Contributing to risk assessments, value engineering, and post-tender clarifications to help secure and deliver profitable projects
Qualifications
- Proven experience in civil engineering estimating, ideally within water and wastewater infrastructure or related sectors (e.g., utilities, pipelines, heavy civils)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
- Proficiency with estimating and spreadsheet software (such as Excel and common estimating platforms), and confidence working with digital tender documents
- Sound understanding of construction methodologies, materials, subcontractor packages, and current market rates in civil engineering
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, suppliers, and internal project teams

- Relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
