Summer Harvest Laboratory Technician

Overview

We\’re looking for a Summer Harvest Laboratory Technician to join our harvesting operations team during our busiest period of the year, supporting crop testing from the third week of July, through August and into early September.

Based in our laboratory at Chichester on Chichester Food Park, you\’ll help analyse cereal and seed samples collected from our farmer customers across the southern counties. These tests allow us to assess crop quality and value before the grain moves into commercial food production such as bread making, brewing and seed processing.

This is a practical, hands-on role that plays a key part in the UK harvest supply chain.

What you\’ll be doing

• Testing grain and seed samples including wheat, barley, oats, beans and oilseed rape
• Carrying out laboratory processes such as moisture, weight, Hagberg, germination and purity tests
• Accurately recording results and entering data into our Microsoft Dynamics system
• Assisting with intake and sampling at the weighbridge when required
• Maintaining laboratory cleanliness, equipment checks and health & safety standards

What we\’re looking for

• An interest in laboratory, scientific or agricultural work (experience desirable but not essential)
• A methodical approach with strong attention to detail
• Confidence working with data and Microsoft Office (Outlook and Excel)
• Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work on repetitive tasks with accuracy

Additional requirements

• Flexibility to work early starts (from 6.00am) and some later finishes (up to 6.00pm) during peak harvest
• Own reliable transport due to site location
