Join the Bartholomews Placement Year, a 12-month paid University placement programme, to gain valuable insight and working knowledge of the agricultural food industry and complement your academic studies.
The programme offers a varied journey with time in each of the key areas of our business, including seed plant operations, key department placements, sustainable low carbon management schemes, and crop production and technical research.
You will learn about our sustainable low carbon farming initiatives, including our Agronomy packages and Impact Zero Fertilizers, and gain hands-on practical experience at our operational sites.
The placement is divided into several segments, including:
- Seed Plant Operations: Gain hands-on production experience in our purpose-built seed plant, including processing and preparation of arable seed crops and seed certification process.
- Key Department Placements: Spend time in our key departments, including Seed Desk & Laboratory, Grain Desk & Shoreham Silo Services, Crop Protection, and Fertiliser Desk & Ultimate Fertilizers.
- Sustainable, Low Carbon Management Schemes: Learn about our latest sustainable farming initiatives, including our Agronomy packages and Impact Zero Fertilizers.
- Delivery of Crop Protection Chemicals: Deliver chemicals directly to our customers\’ farms, representing the business and coordinating with our transport team.
- Crop Production & Technical Research: Contribute to our extensive Trials and Open Days, helping with preparation work at our trials sites and shadowing our Agronomy team.
Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to work with our experienced teams, attend third-party trials and events, and contribute to sharing our research data and engaging with our customers.
We are committed to finding an exceptional scholar to return to join us permanently after graduation to develop into a future arable Agronomist or to join us as an Arable Specialist in another of our key departments.
