Job Description: We are looking for a time served Mechanical Assembly Engineer that will be responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery is assembled to a high standard, within expected timelines. Helping the team provide an Exceptional Customer Experience by achieving our Operational Excellence goals, driving continuous improvement, promoting good teamwork, and acting in line with the company’s policies and values.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1974, current legislation and BWIS company policies & procedures.
- Ensure safety glasses and shoes are always worn in the assembly areas along with additional PPE when required.
- Read and analyse assembly drawings, bills of material and specification, to plan machine build operations.
- Fit and assemble components according to specifications using the correct tools and recognised engineering methods.
- Form and fasten pneumatic lines, fixtures, and components required to service machine with compressed air.
- Communicate any build and documentation issues to Operational Leadership.
- Mark all fasteners and sign worksheet, to confirm torque and quality checks have been completed.
- Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading if required.
- Offer guidance and support to supplementary mechanical assembly labour when required.
- Ensuring that BWIS procedures, quality and safety standards are adhered to.
- Providing training, guidance, and support to apprentices and other members of the assembly team to increase their skills and knowledge base.
- Clean and organise all equipment and work areas, ensuring they are always free from hazards and customer ready.
- Be available & have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends if or when it is required.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Expectations:
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical assembly, ideally in the packaging industry.
- Education in a relevant engineering discipline, Advanced NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Apprenticeship.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude.
- Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
- Drive and determination to succeed.
- Possess appropriate hand tools.
