Who will be responsible for producing PLC and HMI code for the equipment and production lines that we supply. Working closely with our mechanical and electrical design to ensure that we fulfil the project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. While providing an exceptional customer experience by achieving our Operational Excellence goals of on-time shipment, zero warranty and vertical start-ups at our customers facility.Responsibilities:Support and promote good teamwork within and outside of engineering, and act in line with the company’spolicies and valuesResponsible for the Design & Development of new Control SystemsUpgrading of Existing Equipment & Integration with new Automation / ControlsConduct site surveys & participate technical meetings on customer sitesDevelopment of Functional, Detailed and Software Design Specifications from User Requirement SpecificationsPLC (including safety) / HMI Programming – Siemens, Rockwell & others as applicableSystem design and creation of required robot, PLC and HMI programming using IEC 61131-3 languagesEnsure all engineering produced complies with the relevant Directives and Harmonised standardsPerform design and machinery risk assessments to ISO 12100. Implementing countermeasure for identified risksEnsure that all relevant documentation is included in the CE technical fileEnsure customer documentation accurately reflects supplied machinery and is complete by the required dateParticipate in Internal and Customer PDI’sSign Off equipment and projects as ready to ship. Confirming that they are fit for purpose, complete and testedStart up, commission and fault find equipment on our customers sites and support them remotely as requiredEnsure that the latest version of the equipment software is uploaded and identified on the company networkReview site reports daily for assigned products & projects, and ensure any support is given as a matter of urgencySupport the Production, Field Service and Customer Service departments as and when requiredSupport our commercial team & customers, using your technical expertise to find innovative solutionsAssist Applications with technical solutions and input on expected timelinesEnsure that assigned tasks are completed within agreed timelines and in a cost-effective mannerIdentify, and support process & product improvements. Utilising L3 toolsSupport innovation and new product line integrationAllocate time engineering to relevant MO through ATM and complete timesheet daily (target absorption 90%)Ensure that expense forms are completed, and receipts submitted to finance within a monthEnsure that assigned work areas are kept tidy, free from hazards and always customer readyComply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, current legislation and BWIS company policies & proceduresEnsure safety glasses and shoes are always worn in the assembly areas along with addition PPE when requiredTravel to customer sites and other business locations, which may be at short notice and require overnight staysBe available & have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends when it is requiredAttend training courses to support your duties and development. Which may not be held at Doncaster andrequire travel both in the UK or overseasMinimum Qualifications & Experience:2+ years’ experience in Controls & Automation, ideally in the packaging industryEducation in a relevant engineering discipline to HNC / HND qualificationSoftware design experience on Rockwell &/or Siemens PLCs and HMIs is essentialKnowledge and experience of using industrial comms protocols (EthernetIP &/or Profinet) is essentialMotion and servo control systems experience would be beneficialExcellent interpersonal and time management skills to deal with the response time pressures that can arise dueto the nature of this industryAbility to convert verbal, written, and other media-based information into project documentationExcellent computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and Outlook etc.The ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities.A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude.Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.Drive and determination to succeed.The Company:For more than half a century, BW Integrated Systems has been providing advanced conveyance technology, palletisers, depalletisers, automated can end and product handling equipment, unwrappers, destrappers, and process equipment.In order to continue to meet market needs, evolving product line configurations and our customers' expectations, BW Integrated Systems has successfully expanded their \"Best in Class Offerings\" into Robotics, Adaptive Accumulation Systems.
