This developmental position is designed to provide full training and support in all aspects of cemetery maintenance and grave preparation. During the first six months, you will focus on learning grounds maintenance duties, including grass cutting, shrub and pathway maintenance, litter collection, drainage upkeep and assisting with general site improvements.
Subject to successful completion of this initial period, you will then progress to training in grave preparation duties, learning excavation techniques, grave dressing, backfilling and associated cemetery operations under close supervision. Working as part of a dedicated team and reporting to the Cemeteries Manager and Sextons, you will receive structured training and development to build your skills, confidence and knowledge.
The role offers a clear progression pathway, with the opportunity to advance to a fully competent Cemetery Maintenance Operative / Grave Digger upon successful completion of the programme. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team, gain valuable specialist skills and build a long-term career supporting the community of Barry.
