About the role: Reporting and working closely with the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Team Lead will be responsible for organizing and managing an efficient reactive maintenance operation that ensures minimum machine downtime and maximum plant availability. Working closely to motivate and continually develop a team of highly skilled maintenance technicians to ensure the department offers the highest standards of service. The role requires a strong hands-on approach to managing and team development.
Shift pattern: Wednesday 12-6pm and Thursday to Saturday 7am -6pm, 39 hours a week
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a weekend team of planned preventative maintenance technicians ensuring they have all the tools, parts and equipment to effectively carry out their role.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to set standards and objectives for the maintenance function and constantly monitor these to ensure they are being met.
- Analyze downtime trends and identify problematic assets that require further attention and potential investment.
- Suggest improvements based on personal team’s experiences and data collection to improve equipment reliability.
- Ensure that breakdowns are accurately recorded and logged on to Maximo.
- Work with the maintenance manager to compile sound business cases for technical improvements and generate investment proposals.
- Support and advise maintenance issues during designs and implementation phases of investment proposals.
- Work closely with production management and project engineers constantly seeking ways to improve the reliability and efficiency of the production process.
- Provide professional, technical backup/support on all engineering issues ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Co-ordinate effective appraisal, training, development and motivation of staff to achieve a high level of performance of employees.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager to drive the safety culture of the department, maintaining and improving standards.
About you:
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in engineering or maintenance discipline
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering maintenance
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance-based supervisory role and industrial experience
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification desirable
- Up to date knowledge of all Health & Safety Regulations, in particular CDM
- Have a working knowledge of Siemens Software and how to interrogate the system for fault finding purposes.
- Six sigma green belt or above desirable
- Computer literate with capability in MS office and CMMS systems
- Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance and TPM strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good time management.
