The Utilities & Facilities Manager will ensure the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of all utilities and facilities within the plant. This includes managing utilities such as water, electricity, HVAC, compressed air, and waste management, along with facilities services like building maintenance, cleaning, site security, and other essential services. The role will focus on performance-based contracts, cost optimization, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all utilities (water, electricity, HVAC, compressed air) and facilities (building maintenance, cleaning, security).
- Oversee performance-based contracts for utilities and facilities services to ensure cost-effective and compliant operations.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for all utilities and facilities, including environmental, safety, and quality standards.
- Implement initiatives to improve reliability and energy efficiency, meeting aggressive cost-saving targets.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure the optimal performance of utilities and facilities.
- Collaborate with the Asset Manager to align utilities and facilities operations with production needs.
- Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance program for utilities and facilities according to the global policies.
- Implement Global Standards and oversee Barry Callebaut Operating System (BCOS) work processes, particularly within utilities as a dedicated cell.
- Support projects related to the expansion, upgrading, or modification of utilities and facilities infrastructure.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing utilities and facilities in manufacturing (preferably food industry).
- Strong knowledge of performance-based contracting, utility optimization, and cost-saving strategies.
- Proven experience with preventive maintenance for utilities and facilities.
- Proficient in CMMS for tracking and managing maintenance activities.
- Fluent English (spoken and written), additional languages are a plus.
- 5+ years’ experience leading and managing large teams (including maintenance and engineering departments).
- Technically astute and understands various types of equipment, systems, and facilities.
- Understands all aspects of product manufacturing and operational protocols (e.g. GMP, HACCP, etc.).
- Experience in managing large-scale utilities and facilities projects.
- Focus on energy efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
- Ability to manage contractors and internal service providers to maintain high standards.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills both upward and downward.
- Ability to work well under pressure, enabling his/her team to thrive under all circumstances.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
