Our Project Engineer will be responsible for managing assigned projects from conception to completion with a view to improving the business profitability, health and safety and the environment. This will include production and process improvements within manufacturing, also new product development, automation and improvements to building services and civil works.
Responsibilities
- Own, manage and install capital engineering projects from £10k to £5 million within approved budgets and agreed timescales by working closely with departmental heads.
- To adhere to project processes within the department and deliver all written documentation as required for each successful project.
- Work with the Site Operations Team to identify opportunities for capital investment that drive improvements in all areas of the business - safety/people/quality/service/cost.
- Control the activities and standard of work of third-party contractors on site by ensuring adherence to statutory compliance, hygiene and Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
- Ensure that the appropriate inductions and site familiarisation have been completed throughout each project.
- Liaise with the Indirect purchasing function as required to ensure maximum value on the purchase of goods and services.
- Communicate, present on ideas and provide project updates to Site Operations Team.
- Control the project capital expenditure budget by ensuring regular forecasting and planning.
- Review projects implemented providing clear visibility of success criteria and benefits realised.
- Share relevant best practice across the business.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation and company approved working practices.
Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma or degree equivalent in a technical/engineering discipline.
- Operational knowledge of Construction (Design & Management), Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Strong bias in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
- Working knowledge & use of project management structure practices (PMI, APM, Prince 2) an advantage.
- Experience of PLC's - preferably Siemens PLC's, with an operational understanding of automation processes, steps, logic and architecture.
- Background in civil, mechanical & electrical engineering preferred.
- Project engineering experience within a food or processing manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, automation and quality control processes including HACCP within a manufacturing environment.
- Good organisational and communication skills, able to demonstrate best practice and communicate effectively with non-engineering minded stakeholders.
- Experience with budget management as well as work planning.
