Barron Williams are delighted to be retained to deliver this key search and selection instruction for our client, a leading specialist software, robotic and automation company. The business offers a broad range of solutions to a growing number of processing, manufacturing and producing clients across regulated industries, including Life Sciences, Chemical, Manufacturing, Energy & Nuclear. The business is head-quartered in Teesside, ideally placed to serve customers in Teesworks, the UK’s largest and most connected industrial zone, soon to be home to many new sustainable, low-carbon and net-zero projects. It also has offices in the North-West, serving customers in the nuclear industry and other sectors. Solutions range from digital transformation, systems integration including robotics, process control, monitoring systems to regulatory compliance services. With a hard-earned enviable reputation established over more than 30 years, they are now looking to appoint the right Operations Director to lead the operations team as the business continues its rapid growth by maximising the significant opportunities now being presented in a number of target sectors.

Functional Reports: Operations Team (Direct Reports x7)

Package: Attractive salary + car / allowance, perf-related bonus + benefits

As part of the SLT, deliver the long-term business growth plan, delivering against operations KPI’s:

  • Lead daily activities of all core operations functions, taking overall responsibility for Operations P&L
  • Business transformation - deliver strategic objectives to ensure operations continue to meet requirements
  • Revise / establish policies and procedures that promote company growth, culture and vision
  • Ensure that contracts are carried out to budget, on time and to the satisfaction of the client
  • Champion and ensure effective people management and development plans are implemented
  • Ensure the safe, secure and sustainable operation for all employees

Candidate Profile:

  • High-calibre senior Operations professional with a background in industrial automation or similar
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, managing teams of c100 in systems engineering-led services
  • Technical background, probably in engineering-led operations and with a relevant degree
  • Clients served likely to include Life Sciences / Energy / Manufacturing (e.g Chemicals, Process Industry)
  • Delivers against contractual KPI’s in project-led services, across the full project lifecycle
  • Personal characteristics would likely include inspiring, engaging, motivating, passionate and determined
