Job Title: Principal Investigator (Medical Doctor)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

As part of our expansion, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Investigator (PI) to lead clinical studies and play a key role in shaping our future.

Role Overview

The Principal Investigator will have overall responsibility for the conduct of clinical trials at site level, ensuring studies are delivered in accordance with protocol, ICH-GCP, regulatory requirements, and company standards. You will provide medical leadership, oversee study teams, and ensure participant safety and data integrity at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Principal Investigator on assigned clinical trials
  • Provide medical oversight and ensure participant safety
  • Ensure studies are conducted in compliance with ICH-GCP, regulatory, and ethical standards
  • Lead, mentor, and support site staff and research teams
  • Review and approve study documentation, including protocols, informed consent forms, and safety reports
  • Oversee recruitment, screening, and retention of study participants
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete data collection and reporting
  • Liaise with sponsors, CROs, ethics committees, and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in audits and inspections as required
  • Contribute to site development and expansion initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent)
  • Full GMC registration (or eligibility)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience acting as a Principal Investigator on clinical trials
  • Strong knowledge of ICH-GCP and clinical research regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple studies

Desirable

  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Previous experience in a growing or multi-site organisation
  • Subspecialty training or postgraduate qualifications
