Animal Technician
Working as part of an experienced animal care team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day husbandry and welfare of mouse colonies, ensuring the highest standards of animal care are maintained at all times.
This is a hands-on role focused on animal husbandry rather than research, making it ideal for someone looking to build or continue a career in animal technology.
Responsibilities
- Carry out the daily husbandry and care of mouse colonies.
- Monitor animal health and welfare, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Maintain clean, organised and compliant animal housing areas.
- Perform routine cage changing, feeding, watering and environmental checks.
- Accurately complete husbandry and facility records.
- Support the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness, biosecurity and animal welfare throughout the facility.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the animal unit.
- Follow all company procedures and health and safety guidelines.
About You
- Previous hands-on experience working with mice is essential.
- Experience within an animal facility or animal technician environment is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant mouse handling experience from other settings will also be considered.
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent animal care and welfare.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures.
- A reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
