WearesupportingaleadingresearchorganisationwiththeappointmentofaHomeOfficeLiaisonContactandNamedTrainingandCompetencyOfficer.

Thisisakeyregulatoryandcomplianceposition,providingoversightoftraining,competencyandlicensingacrossallresearchinvolvinganimalsundertheAnimals(ScientificProcedures)Act1986(ASPA).

Thesuccessfulcandidatewillworkcloselywithseniorlicenceholders,facilitymanagers,researchersandtheHomeOfficetoensuretheorganisationmaintainsthehigheststandardsofregulatorycompliance,animalwelfare,trainingandethicalpractice.

TheRole

AsNTCO,youwillprovideoversightoftrainingandcompetencyforpersonnelinvolvedinregulatedanimalresearch,ensuringindividualsareappropriatelytrained,supervisedandcompetentbeforeundertakingproceduresindependently.

AsHOLC,youwillactastheprimarypointofcontactbetweentheorganisationandtheHomeOfficeAnimalsinScienceRegulationUnit(ASRU),providingadviceandsupportonlicensingandregulatoryrequirements.

YouwillalsoprovidesecretariatsupporttotheAnimalWelfareandEthicalReviewBody(AWERB)andcontributetotheorganisation'swideranimalwelfareandethicalgovernance.

KeyResponsibilities

  • ActastheprimaryliaisonbetweentheestablishmentandHomeOfficeASRU.
  • ProvideexpertadviceonASPAandassociatedlegislation
  • Adviselicenceholdersandresearchersontheapplication,amendmentandrenewalofHomeOfficelicences
  • Provideguidanceonthetraining,practicalexperienceandsupervisionrequiredforindividualsseekingpersonallicences
  • CoordinateHomeOfficemodulartrainingforprospectivelicenceholders
  • Maintainoversightofinternaltraining,competencyandsupervisionprogrammes.
  • Maintainaccuraterecordsoftraining,competency,certificationandcontinuingprofessionaldevelopment.
  • Workwithfacilitymanagerstoestablishappropriatestandardsfortraining,supervision,competencyandongoingprofessionaldevelopment
  • Overseeassessmentoflicenceholders'adherencetoapprovedproceduresandprocesses
  • SupportandfacilitateProjectLicencereviews,includingretrospectivereviews
  • ProvidespecialistadvicetotheAWERBoneducation,trainingandcompetencymatters
  • CoordinateASPA-relatedlicenceholdermeetings
  • ProvidegeneralregulatoryandlicensingadvicetostaffworkingunderASPA
  • Support Named Individuals and senior licence holders in fulfilling their regulatory responsibilities

  • DetailedknowledgeofASPAandassociatedHomeOfficeregulationsandguidance
  • Experienceoverseeingtraining,competencyandsupervisionofpersonnelworkingwithlaboratoryanimals
  • ExperienceworkingwithHomeOfficeProjectandPersonalLicencerequirements
  • Strongunderstandingofanimalwelfare,ethicalreviewandregulatorycompliance
  • ExperiencesupportingorworkingwithanAWERBwouldbehighlyadvantageous
  • Theconfidencetoprovideregulatoryadviceandguidancetoscientists,licenceholdersandfacilityteams
