Job Description

Director, Medical Affairs

Location: New York, US

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee project-related activities within the Medical Affairs department. Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs, this role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong teamwork skills and the ability to support multiple stakeholders effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), industry experts, advocacy organizations, and other external partners.
  2. Design and implement KOL engagement strategies, including advisory board coordination, publication collaboration, and educational initiatives. Engage with KOLs to support clinical development, investor relations, and other business needs.
  3. Act as the primary liaison with Medical Communications vendors to facilitate publication planning, including abstract submissions, poster creation, manuscript development, and other related activities such as slide decks and scientific narratives.
  4. Represent Medical Affairs in Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review processes, ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations while aligning with corporate and brand objectives.
  5. Manage and track confidentiality agreements, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and budget-related activities within Medical Affairs.
  6. Oversee budget planning and quarterly reconciliation for Medical Affairs operations.
  7. Process and coordinate Medical Education Grant and Sponsorship funding requests.
  8. Maintain conference schedules and coordinate on-site meetings at industry events.
  9. Organize and execute advisory board meetings, including invitation management, confidentiality agreements, scheduling, logistical arrangements, and honoraria processing.
  10. Provide cross-functional project support, collaborating with Clinical Operations and other departments as needed.
  11. Work closely with clinical trial teams to assist in site recruitment and patient enrollment efforts.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Advanced degree in a healthcare-related field (MD, PharmD, PhD, RN, or equivalent).
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in content development or content strategy within the pharmaceutical industry.
  3. Background in respiratory medicine preferred.
  4. Experience in pre-launch activities is advantageous.
  5. Previous work experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
  6. Strong understanding of industry compliance regulations.
  7. Knowledge of commercial strategies for pharmaceutical success, with an ability to collaborate compliantly with commercial teams.
  8. Experience in a medical affairs role or a related function.
  9. Broad understanding of the strategic role of Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical landscape.

  1. Fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent communication skills.
  2. Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving capabilities, and negotiation skills, particularly in a cross-functional, global setting.
