We are currently seeking an Animal Technician to join a leading biomedical research organisation supporting innovative research programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with animal experience to work within a highly regulated and welfare-focused environment, contributing to studies that support the development of new therapies.
The Role
As an Animal Technician, you will be responsible for the daily care and welfare of laboratory animals while ensuring the highest standards of husbandry, health monitoring, and facility operations. You will work closely with scientific and technical teams to support research activities and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality animal husbandry and welfare monitoring.
- Perform routine health checks and accurately record observations.
- Maintain animal accommodation to the highest standards of cleanliness and biosecurity.
- Support scientific procedures in accordance with training and competency levels.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Monitor animal wellbeing and promptly report any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the animal facility.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with rodents.
- Sound understanding of animal husbandry and welfare practices.
- Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and associated regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities.
