An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Licensed Animal Technician to join a fast-paced and collaborative in vivo research environment within a leading biomedical setting. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a genuine commitment to animal welfare, supporting high-quality translational research programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct regulated procedures in line with your Home Office Personal Licence (PIL A–B required)
- Carry out a variety of dosing and sampling techniques
- Perform blood and tissue collection in accordance with study protocols
- Support anaesthesia and peri-operative care, including monitoring and recovery
- Assist with or perform in vivo techniques, such as cell implantation (where licensed)
- Monitor animals post-procedure, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation
- Maintain full compliance with ASPA, Home Office regulations, and SOPs
- Uphold the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical practice
- Work closely with scientific, veterinary, and technical teams to achieve study goals
What We’re Looking For
- Valid UK Home Office Personal Licence (PIL) with Categories A–B (essential)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
- Category C licence or relevant hands-on experience (desirable)
- Practical experience in cell implantation and/or minor surgical techniques
- Strong understanding of ASPA regulations and animal welfare standards
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping and documentation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team
