Handsewer – Hawick at Barrie Knitwear
We are seeking an experienced handsewer to join our Barrie knitwear main factory in Hawick. Reporting to the Process Manager, this role supports our highly skilled hand sewing team to enhance production capabilities as we continue to grow. Ideal for someone with exceptional technical precision and artisanry in handsewing luxury garments, who brings passion, commitment, and the desire to succeed in a fast-evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Select garments and/or bundles in accordance with instructions
- Handsew neck trims and pocket tops onto garments
- Handsew garments and attach accessories as instructed
- Perform quality checks throughout the assembly process to ensure garments meet company standards
- Handsew specific elements of garments to a high standard
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines
- Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are understood and adhered to
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Handsewer or in a similar garment manufacturing role
- Strong handsewing ability and knowledge of sewing techniques and garment construction
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
