Location: Wednesfield, Wolverhampton WV11

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour

Nature of the job role: Assisting a 56-year-old gentleman who is a wheelchair user, has Cerebral Palsy and is non-verbal with all aspects of day-to-day living. The client lives with their family in Wednesfield and is a very pleasant, sociable individual who has a passion for music.

Responsibilities

  • Personal duties: Assisting with all personal care; hoisted transfers using a ceiling hoist; washing, dressing, continence care; monitoring skin integrity on every visit; support with medication administration.
  • Domestic duties: Laundry, ironing, weekly deep clean of bedroom and wet room and all equipment; deep cleaning as required. Preparing meals and drinks; all meals are pureed and fluids are thickened due to high choking risk.
  • Social Duties: Social stimulation; client attends a Day Centre.

Hours and shifts

Hours of work: Up to 30 hours a week – applicant must be flexible.

Week 1: Wed AM+PM - Thurs AM - Sun AM+PM

Week 2: Wed AM+PM – Thurs PM - Fri AM+PM

AM shifts start at 7:00 – 09:45/13:00. PM shifts start at 15:15 – 19:00 (weekdays), 16:00-19:00 (weekends).

Qualifications

  • Previous care experience essential
  • Clean driving licence desirable
  • Moving and Handling Trained – must be hoist trained
  • Medication trained

Skills & Experience

Only applicants who can deliver a high level of care will be considered. You must be reliable, trustworthy and show an aptitude for this type of work with a willingness to show some flexibility in the hours that you work. Some experience of working with people with complex care needs is essential.

Other

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References. This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
