To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer
Our client is a 74‑year‑old male living in the Horbury area of Wakefield who is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support for 6.5 hours per week with all care and daily living tasks. All training will be provided for the successful candidate.
Main duties
- Social duties: keep in touch and socialise with family and friends. Support with activities such as going out in the wheelchair, walking the dogs, going to the snooker club or days out. Support with gardening tasks like potting plants. Support to complete dexterity puzzles to help hand eye coordination. Support client to use his computer again.
- Personal care: Support with personal care, administering medication, supporting with PEG feeds/flushes, Support to hoist in and out of chair/wheelchair/bed.
- Domestic duties: Support with changing linen, laundry, ironing and gardening.

Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential: Someone with a calm disposition, a good sense of humour is required, must be hardworking and loyal, must be able to provide good references, good at building relationships.
Preferred: Knowledge of the following would be useful but not essential: Moving and Handling, Personal Care, Physio Techniques, Knowledge of peg management, Knowledge of Medication, Knowledge of swallowing risks, Ability to support people with complex support needs.
