Job vacancy

Reporting to: The Employer

Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.

About the employer: Our client is 22 years old, autistic and lives in Wolverhampton. She has low language and cognitive skills but is physically fit and generally content. Our client is looking for a Personal Assistant who lives locally and has experience with managing and organising children and is aware of the challenges that autistic people can face.

  • Encourage the client to socialise with family and friends
  • Assist with managing type 1 diabetes
  • Attend medical appointments with the family
  • Go shopping and travel on buses, trains and trams
  • Attend social events such as the cinema
  • Accompany our client to the swimming baths

Personal care:

  • Support with bathing/showering, teeth cleaning, dressing.

Domestic Duties:

  • Support with household tasks such as preparing meals for the client.
  • Helping the client to use the dishwasher and washing machine with the client.

These duties may vary from day to day.

Specific requirements: The successful applicant will understand autism and preferably have previous care and support experience.

Other: Due to the nature of this role including personal care, the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.

Hours of work: 21 hours per week - to be worked over 3 days 08:30am - 15:30pm each day.

Rate of pay: £14.25 per hour.

Preferred:

  • A good listener
  • Ability to support people with complex care needs.

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
