- Support the young person to access social, recreational, and community activities.
- Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion through person-centred support.
- Encourage participation in hobbies, interests, and new experiences.
- Support communication using a range of methods, including alternative communication systems.
- Provide companionship and build a positive, trusting relationship.
- Assist with planning and participating in fun, engaging, and meaningful activities.
- Help the young person develop social skills and maintain community connections.
- Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with the individual's needs and preferences.

Hours of work: 6 hours per week (preferably weekends but can be flexible).
Rate of pay: To be agreed with the successful candidate
Skills, qualifications, and experience
- Caring, patient, and compassionate nature.

- Enthusiasm for supporting a young person to access social and community activities.
- Commitment to promoting independence, confidence, and wellbeing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to provide personal care and support with manual handling (full training provided).
- Reliable, responsible, and adaptable approach.
- Comfortable supporting a young person with additional support needs.
- Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a wider support network.
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional support needs.
- Previous experience as a Personal Assistant, Support Worker, Carer, or in a similar role.
- Knowledge or experience of Makaton.
- Experience supporting individuals who use alternative or augmentative communication methods.
- Experience supporting wheelchair users.
- Understanding of person-centred support approaches.
- Experience supporting participation in community, social, and leisure activities.
- Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, or a related field.
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
