The Studies & Business Development Analyst supports the Growth and Studies Lead in the delivery of Barrick's organic growth strategy across the Rest of World portfolio. The role provides technical, analytical, planning and coordination support across growth projects, project studies, site optimization workstreams and strategic portfolio reviews. The Analyst will work closely with regional and site teams, project managers, technical discipline leads and external consultants to help maintain visibility on priorities, progress, risks and key decisions.
The role will include regular travel to mine sites and project locations to support studies, workshops, data gathering, planning reviews and project execution and can be based remotely.

Responsibilities- Support the identification and advancement of organic growth opportunities across Barrick's Rest of World portfolio, including mine life extensions, internal growth projects, optimisation studies and strategic options.
- Support technical and financial analysis of growth opportunities, including production profiles, capital and operating costs, schedules, mining and processing assumptions, sensitivities and key value drivers.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestone plans, action trackers and work‑plans to support disciplined delivery of studies and growth initiatives.
- Coordinate inputs from site, regional, technical, consultant and contractor teams to ensure deliverables, dependencies, risks and required decisions are clearly understood and followed up.
- Prepare executive‑level reporting materials, including briefing notes, dashboards, presentations, progress updates and decision‑support packs.
- Travel to operations and project sites to support studies, workshops, data gathering, site reviews and follow‑up planning.
- Support the development of consistent project standards, planning tools, reporting templates and project definition materials across the portfolio.
- Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, geology, business, finance, project management or a related technical field.
- 3 – 10 years' relevant experience in mining, geology, business development, technical evaluation, project controls, consulting, investment analysis, data science or corporate development.
- Strong academic foundation in mining, mine economics, mine planning, geology or resource evaluation.
- Exposure to mine planning, valuation, technical reports, NI 43‑101 reporting, benchmarking or financial modelling would be beneficial.
- Experience developing and managing integrated schedules across complex, multi‑discipline projects.
- Coordinating inputs from multiple contractors and stakeholders into a single, consolidated plan.
- Ability to track site progress and manage both short‑term (weekly) and long‑term planning cycles.
- Experience analysing schedule performance, including variance analysis, critical path and recovery planning.
- Experience preparing and presenting schedule reports, dashboards and KPIs to project and senior stakeholders.
- Experience using data analysis tools, automation, AI applications or data science methods to improve workflows, analyse large datasets, generate insights or support decision‑making.
- Track record operating in fast‑paced project environments, driving planning discipline and consistency across teams.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical, financial and operational information and identify key value drivers, risks and opportunities.
- Working knowledge of mining project fundamentals, including production profiles, capital and operating costs, mine planning assumptions, processing constraints and project economics.
- Strong project coordination and planning skills, including the ability to manage schedules, milestones, action trackers, deliverables and follow‑up across multiple workstreams.
- Strong data literacy, with the ability to structure, analyse and interpret datasets; experience with Excel, Power BI, Python, AI tools or other data science applications is an asset.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare concise technical summaries, dashboards and executive‑level presentations.
- High level of organisation, attention to detail and initiative, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and engage effectively with site, regional and corporate teams.
