Based at Advanced Steel Services, Preston site, we currently have a key sales management opportunity available for an experienced Sales Manager to lead our high performing sales teams across our Preston & Chester sites.
Specific tasks include:
- Develop robust sales plans, within the constraints of operational capacity, that seek to secure profitable new market share and gross margin growth through a combination of new business and new product sales through lowest cost to serve.
- Ensure sales plans reflect the need to minimise stock levels, work in progress and customer debtor days in order control unnecessary investment in working capital.
- Continue to develop an already strong portfolio of customers, ensuring long term mutually beneficial relationships, whilst managing and motivating the team to achieve.
- Manage the end-to-end Sales process for clients from engagement to sale, to delivery, fully supporting, mentoring, and motivating our sales teams in Preston & Chester.
- Ensuring that effective systems of control and information exist, routinely monitor sales performance against plan in order to maximise profit potential.
- Personally, lead negotiations with existing and potential customers and through regular meetings, build relationships to maximise commercial opportunities with them.
- Develop, publicise, and apply a business commercial operating policy, informed as appropriate by the Group, within limits of their authority on pricing, credit etc. and monitor customer service standards that seek to build customer retention levels.
- Be mobile in the field visiting customers face to face when needed. Frequent travel to the Chester site will also be a requirement.

Essential Skills for the role:
- A strategic thinker with strong leadership skills
- Previous sales management experience within the steel industry, or similar heavy industry in the UK.
- Proven track record of managing and motivating sales teams with a record of building up accounts and delivering results
- Excellent man-management skills, used to managing and motivating a sales team
- Confident in achieving targets and KPIs
- Can drive & has a full UK driving licence
- Ideally you will already have achieved success within the steel industry and are looking to build on this
