All about the role
The purpose of this new role is to ensure the production quality standards, inspection processes, and operational controls are consistently applied across the production centre. This is a hands-on operational quality role, not purely administrative, and you will spend the majority of working time on the production floor and within the warehouse areas, identifying risks before defects leave the production area and supporting production teams with practical quality guidance.
The role is responsible for:
- Managing NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
- Driving root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Process Compliance & Auditing
- Reducing repeat quality issues
- Maintaining a strong visible presence on the warehouse and production floor to ensure processes, checks, and standards are actively followed in practice
- Driving a culture of exceptional product quality, presentation, and customer-focused standards across all operational areas
This is a hands-on operational quality role, not purely administrative. Spend the majority of working time on the production floor and warehouse areas. Conduct routine in-process inspections across steel processing operations. Verify operators are following agreed SOPs, work instructions, and quality checks. Ensure inspection points and hold points are completed correctly. Challenge and correct process deviations in real time.

Essential Skills for the role:
- Hands-on experience using a range of measuring equipment in a production/manufacturing environment, e.g. callipers, verniers, micrometres, gauges, to ensure product accuracy and compliance
- Competent in interpreting measurement results and recording data in line with quality standards
- Experience maintaining and calibrating inspection equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy
- Strong understanding of maintaining quality processes in line with group/company procedures and standards
- Experience conducting internal audits and ensuring adherence to established quality management systems
- Proactive in identifying process deviations and implementing corrective actions
- Experience managing NCRs and root cause investigations
- Confident communicating with production teams on the shop floor
- Practical, proactive, and detail-oriented approach
