Based at our Advanced Steel Services site, Grove Road, Walton-Le-Dale, Preston, the purpose of this role is to ensure customers’ orders are fulfilled to the highest standards in a fast-paced environment. The shift hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Specific tasks could include:

  • Pick computer-generated orders with repetitive handling/lifting of heavy and large items.
  • Loading, cutting (Saws), and offloading of steel.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly actioned for accuracy of stock.
  • Transferring stock to its location using a forklift truck.
  • Assist in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders.
  • Keep work area clean and tidy; maintain high levels of health and safety.
  • Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work to meet operational requirements.
  • Operate machinery (only when trained to do so).

Essential Skills for the role:

  • The successful candidate will have experience as a Warehouse Operative but does not necessarily have to be in the Steel Industry as training will be provided.
  • Have a flexible attitude, be results-oriented, and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Side-loader/Fork-lift experience is desirable; however, training will be given.
  • Ideally have experience using bandsaws.
  • A strong commitment to health & safety.
  • Ideally possess a driving license for ease of commuting.
