All About The Role
We currently have an excellent career opportunity available for an experienced Business Development Manager to support the development of our existing customer portfolio, continuing to strengthen long-term client relationships whilst actively seeking out new market opportunities, onboarding new clients and building long term mutually beneficial relationships.
Specific Tasks Include:
- Develop robust sales plans, within the constraints of operational capacity, that seek to secure profitable new market share and gross margin growth.
- Build on existing customer relationships ensuring full potential is received.
- Generate a pipeline of new customers and business leads by face-to-face visits, targeted phone calls and other marketing strategies, ensuring potential clients are aware of what our business has to offer.
- Personally lead negotiations with potential & current customers and through regular meetings, build relationships to maximise commercial opportunities with them and to fully understand customer needs and requirements.
- Deliver product presentations to customers on a range of items effectively illustrating use and USP.
- Work closely with marketing to produce relevant company and product portfolios.
- Attend relevant trade shows.
- Ensuring a high level of customer service.

Essential Skills For The Role:
- Previous B2B field sales experience within a progressive sales environment and have a proven record of building accounts and delivering results, ideally within the steel industry.
- Excellent communication skills and strong analytical ability.
- Be able to work to tight timescales.
- Builds strong relationships quickly, a proactive attitude and approach & thrives off working to targets.
- The office is based in Reading RG1 8LL; you will need to live within a reasonable daily commute to attend product training and meetings on an as and when basis.
- Full UK driving license.
