The purpose of this role is to carry out driving & related duties involved with the carriage of goods within a defined geographical area, ensuring full compliance to all Health and Safety procedures. This role is Monday to Friday 50 hours per week, start and finish times may vary plus overtime when required.
Specific tasks could include:
- To oversee the safe unloading of vehicles at customer premises.
- Complying with their site rules.
- Ensuring Proofs of Delivery are signed & returned without delay.
- To check the load security & weight distribution according to latest safe working practices at the beginning and end of each shift.
- To ensure that the delivery vehicles are always maintained to Company standards in terms of reporting of any defects to the vehicle.
- Ensures vehicles are in safe condition, with daily checks correctly completed before use, & are operated in a safe manner.
- Address Line - Manual Handling & Loading. Minimal amount of manual handling all under 25kgs.
- Supporting the warehouse staff as and when necessary.
- Adherence to all Health & Safety standards and legislation.
- Help in the warehouse if needed.
Essential Skills for the role:
- To hold a valid HGV Class 1 Licence (with no more than 6 points).
- Be available for the whole 6 months contract.
- Own a Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
- Knowledge of working time directive.
- Previous experience in a warehousing or distribution business.
- Understanding and experience of EHS requirements.
- Ability to carry out manual handling and loading.
