Within the construction environment, you will be involved in buying materials, managing large projects, ensuring health and safety, and providing excellent customer service. At any given time, our team is working on approximately 400 developments across towns and rural areas in the UK, ranging from brownfield sites to the adaptation of existing buildings such as old factories or disused hospitals.

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Forklift Driver is responsible for managing and controlling the delivery of materials to the site and the distribution of those materials in accordance with the construction programme and instructions from the Site Manager, Assistant Site Manager, or Materials Controller.

Responsibilities:
  • Regularly communicate with the Site Manager to stay up to date with any changes to the construction programme.
  • Inform the Site Manager of any shortages of blocks and bricks or the level of silo mix to prevent delays caused by material shortages.
  • Ensure all deliveries are checked for quality and the correct quantity, and record any defective or short deliveries with the Materials Controller where applicable.
  • Store and label materials correctly in the store areas supplied (standard compound set up).
  • Ensure waste materials are loaded into the correct site skips for appropriate waste control.
  • Advise the Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager of any defective or damaged materials when collecting or loading out of materials.
  • Inspect the forklift daily for maintenance purposes and record weekly inspections in the Plant Register.
  • Maintain the forklift so it is clean, roadworthy at all times, and carry out routine maintenance.
  • Inspect plant attachments (e.g., road brush) on a weekly basis and record them in the Plant Register.
  • Adhere to safe working practices at all times and report any issues directly to the site manager.
  • Ensure all materials loaded out on platforms allow the loading bay gates to be closed at all times.
  • Carry out labouring duties as and when required.
What you’ll need:
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative appropriately.
  • Previous experience working on large domestic volume house building sites.
  • Holder of an appropriate FLT driver’s licence and a full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant health and safety awareness.
  • Current appropriate CSCS or partner scheme card.
