JOB PURPOSE: This is a newly created role to provide additional resource in our finance team, the majority of whom are based in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. The company is set to almost triple in size over the next 2 years, offering a great opportunity to learn and grow with the role. We are looking for a recent school or college leaver seeking their first real step into the world of work and, more specifically, finance. The successful candidate will be methodical, have an eye for detail and be keen to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase ledger logging through to supplier reconciliation
- Liaison with remote finance team for both trade and subcontractor payments
- Processing of subcontractor claims, ensuring accuracy and appropriate Cognito sign offs
- Liaison with contract managers regarding subcontractor claims and payments
- Accurate allocation of cash receipts to the sales ledger
- Booking and analysis of monthly credit card spend
- Ensuring accurate coding of all entries on Sage
- Completion of monthly ONS and CIS returns
- Assisting, as required, during the annual audit process and stocktake process
- Working with the commercial team to undertake monthly stock counts and valuations
- Meeting all key deadlines for reporting
- Logging and reporting of Corporate Sustainability data
- Awareness of process improvement opportunities
What You’ll Need
- Previous accounting knowledge not essential, but a strong interest in accounting required
- Numerate – ideally GCSE Maths Grade 7 or above or Higher Maths
- Logical, accurate and organised
- IT skills—particularly Excel and Office 365
- Curious and a desire to learn
